Caitlin Smith_ART

Caitlin Smith (b.1998) is a Hull based artist and works predominantly in sculpture and installation.

She explores aspects of movement and sound, to extract echoic memory.

She is intrigued by the functionality of the human body and visualising this through creating an analogy of grotesqueness in my work.

Therefore, she contrasts this to social pressures and expectations forced on women.               

Reflecting on the influences of the media, world events and everyday life, which conditioned us as women in how we look at our own bodies.

Experimentation is an integral part of my practice. I work with various materials and found objects. The materials are chosen in deliberation towards colour, texture, shape and form and exploring these through the context of my practice and my own personal experiences with my body.
